Agathipoo Poriyal


  • Hummingbird flower – 250g
  • Urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Chana dal – 1 tsp
  • Moong dal – 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – A pinch
  • Red onion – 1
  • Coconut – 1
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Coriander leaves – Few
  • Oil – Required
  • Salt – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time 25-30 minutes

  1. Wash agathi flower cleanly and chop it finely then keep aside
  2. Chop onion, chop coriander leaves, grate coconut then keep aside
  3. Take a blender, add chana dal, peppercorns, 50ml water and grind them like a paste
  4. Heat the pan with oil, then add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, moong dal
  5. Once it crackles, add onion and saute it well till the onions become golden
  6. After that add turmeric powder and red chilli powder then fry them till raw smell goes off
  7. Then add agathi flower and required salt then mix it well
  8. Add 100ml water and cook them for 10 minutes till agathipoo become soft
  9. If agathipoo is not cooked in 5 minutes, add some water and cook it again
  10. Then sprinkle grated coconut and saute it for 5 minutes
  11. Finally turn off the flame and transferred it into a bowl
  12. Now the healthy Agathipoo Poriyal is ready to serve.
