Drumstick Poriyal


Ingredients

  • Whole Drumsticks – 2
  • Urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek Seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – A pinch
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Small onion – 2
  • Tomato – 1
  • Coconut – 1/4
  • Lemon – 1
  • Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Coriander leaves – Few
  • Oil – Required
  • Salt – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time 25-30 minutes

  1. Cut the drumstick into 2 inch pieces and wash them well and keep aside
  2. Chop onion, grate coconut, chop coriander leaves, chop tomato, filter it and take the juice and keep aside
  3. Heat the pan with oil, then add mustard seeds
  4. Once it crackles, add urad dal, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and fry for 30 seconds
  5. Then add onion, curry leaves and saute it well till onion become golden
  6. Add tomato, salt and saute it for 2 minutes
  7. After that add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and fry it till raw smell goes off
  8. Then add drumstick and lemon juice and mix it well
  9. Cook them for 5 minutes in high flame till whole recipe become dry
  10. If drumsticks not cooked after 5 minutes, add some water and cook for another 5 minutes
  11. Then sprinkle grated coconut and saute it for 5 minutes
  12. Finally garnish coriander leaves over the poriyal
  13. Now the Drumstick Poriyal is ready to serve.
