Green Peas Poriyal


  • Green Peas – 250g
  • Urad dal – 1 tsp
  • Fenugreek Seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Mustard Seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – A pinch
  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp
  • Pepper powder – 1 tsp
  • Small onion – 2
  • Lemon – 1
  • Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Corinader leaves – Few
  • Oil – Required
  • Salt – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time 25-30 minutes

  1. Clean and wash the green peas and keep aside
  2. Chop onion, coriander leaves and take the juice from lemon and keep aside
  3. Heat the pan with oil, then add mustard seeds
  4. Once it crackles, add urad dal, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds and fry for 30 seconds
  5. Then add onion, curry leaves and saute it well till onion become golden
  6. After that add turmeric powder, coriander powder, red chilli powder and fry it till raw smell goes off
  7. Then add green peas and lemon juice, required salt and mix it well
  8. Cook them for 5 minutes in medium flame till recipe become dry
  9. If not cooked after 5 minutes, add some water and cook for another 5 minutes
  10. Then sprinkle 2 tsp pepper powder and saute it for 5 minutes
  11. Finally garnish with coriander leaves and transferred into a plate
  12. Now the Greenpeas Poriyal is ready to serve.
