Onion Chappathi – வெங்காய சப்பாத்தி

Ingredients

  • Wheat flour – 250g
  • Red onion – 2
  • Cumin seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Green chillies – 2
  • Coriander seed powder – 1 tsp
  • Gram masala powder – 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander leaves – Few
  • Salt – Required
  • Oil – Required
  • –

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time: 15-20 minutes

  1. Slice onion lengthwise, chop green chillies, chop coriander leaves seperately and keep aside
  2. Then take a pan, add Wheat flour, 1 tbsp oil, required salt and required amount of water to make chappathi dough
  3. Mix it well by your hand, make dough and marinate for few minutes
  4. Take a pan, add oil, once oil heats up, add cumin seeds
  5. Once it popsup, add onion and green chillies and saute it 3 minutes till onion become golden brown
  6. Then add coriander leaves, followed by garam masala powder, coriander powder and mix it well till the raw smell goes off
  7. Turn off the flame and save this onion stuffings in a bowl and keep aside
  8. Take the chappathi dough, split them into palm hold sized small balls
  9. And take the chappathi board, roll this small balls into round shapes like chappathi then keep the small amount of onion stuffing inside, close it and make like a ball
  10. Again roll this stuffed chappathi ball into round shape carefully without the onion stuffing comes out
  11. Keep the dosa or chappathi tawa in medium flame, apply little amount of oil and spread it well
  12. After oil gets heat up, lay around the round shaped stuffed chappathi dough and cook it for 3-4 minutes
  13. After that turn to other side and cook for 2 minutes.
  14. Now the crunchy Onion Chappathi is ready to serve.
