Sesame Rice – எள்ளு சாதம்


  • Sesame Seeds – 53g
  • Rice – 250g
  • Red Chilli – 4 to 5
  • Urad Dal – 2 tsp
  • Sesame Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds – 1 tsp
  • Cashew nuts – 10 to 15
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Oil – Required
  • Salt – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time: 20-25 minutes

  1. Wash rice cleanly then soak it in 380 ml water for 30 minutes, add salt and cook it then transfer into a bowl and keep aside
  2. Take a pan add 1 tsp oil once oil heats up, add ural dal and red chillies.
  3. Fry them for 2 minutes till the dals become golden and then save them in bowl and keep aside
  4. Take the same pan, fry sesame seeds in medium flame till it completely pops up then save them separately in a bowl
  5. After fried ingredients cooled down, take a mixer/small grinder, grind fried urad dal, red chilli nicely
  6. Then add sesame seeds and grind them nicely for 5 minutes then collect this powder into a bowl
  7. Take a pan, add 1 tsp oil once it heats up add mustard seeds
  8. After it crackle, add 1 tsp Urad dal followed by curry leaves
  9. After curry leaves become crispy, add this seasoning into the prepared sesame powder and mix them well
  10. Fry cashew nuts in ghee and add them into it
  11. Then add some salt and 1 tsp sesame oil and mix it well
  12. Add this sesame powder into the cooked rice and mix it till the rice is completely bind with powder.
  13. Finally sprinkle coriander leaves
  14. Now the Sesame rice is ready for serve
