Spicy Boli


  • All purpose flour (Maida) – 250g
  • Wheat flour – 250g
  • Turmeric powder – 1 1/4 tsp
  • Potatoes – 2
  • Green peas – 120g
  • Red Onion – 1
  • Red chilli powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander seed powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida – A pinch
  • Cashew nuts – 10 to 20
  • Chana dal – 250g
  • Curry leaves – Few
  • Coriander leaves – Few
  • Oil – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time: 15-20 minutes

  1. Then take a pan, add maida, wheat flour, 1 tsp turmeric powder oil and required amount of water to make stick elastic dough
  2. Mix it well by your hand, make dough, cover it with oil and marinate for 70 minutes
  3. Boil the potato until potato gets soft, drain the water and cool it for few minutes.
  4. Peel the skin of the potatoes, cut them into pieces and mash it well, keep aside
  5. Chop onions, coriander leaves, broke the cashew nuts and keep aside
  6. Take a pan, add oil once oil heats up add mustard seeds
  7. Once it crackle, add cashew nuts, asafoetida, curry leaves and mix it well for 1 minute
  8. Then add onions and saute it for 2 minutes till it become golden
  9. Now add mashed potatoes followed by peas, red chilli powder, coriander seed powder, turmeric and salt
  10. Mix and saute it well for 10 minutes in low flame till the raw smell goes off
  11. After turn off the flame move this cooked stuffings into a bowl and make it cool
  12. Take the dough, split them into palm hold sized small balls
  13. Take the chappathi board, roll this small balls into small round shapes then keep the small amount of masala staffing inside, close it and make like a ball
  14. Apply little amount of oil and again roll this stuffed boli ball into small round shape carefully without the stuffing comes out
  15. Keep the tawa in medium flame, apply little amount of oil and a pinch of ghee and spread it well
  16. After oil and ghee gets heat up, lay around the round shaped stuffed boli dough and cook it for 2 minutes
  17. After that turn to other side and cook for a minutes.
  18. Sprinkle coriander leaf over the boli and transfer to a plate
  19. Now the amazing Spicy boli is ready to serve.
