Sweet Ragi Rotti


  • Finger millet flour (Ragi)
  • Coconut – 1
  • Cardamon powder – A pinch
  • Jaggery – 80 g
  • Oil – Required

How to Prepare

Total Preparation time – 25-30 minutes

  1. Dissolve jaggery in water, filter it and make like a syrup, grate coconut separatly keep aside
  2. Take wide bowl, add ragi flour, cardamom powder, 80g grated coconut and jaggery syrup and add required water slowly to make a smooth, soft dough
  3. Mix it well by your hand, make dough, cover it with oil and marinate for 20 minutes
  4. Take the dough, split them into palm hold sized small balls
  5. Take a small banana leaf, press it make like a disc
  6. Then by using your hand slowly stretch this small disc into round shape if stretching is difficult, dip your finger in water and try again
  7. Make 2 to three small ant hole sized holes in the round dough for nice cook
  8. Keep the tawa in medium flame, apply little amount of oil and spread it well
  9. After oil gets heat up, lay around the round shaped ragi dough carefully and pour some oil at the edges and holes of the ragi dough and cook it for 2 minutes
  10. After that turn to other side and cook for a minutes.
  11. Cook it till become brown then transfer to a plate
  12. Now the nutritious Sweet Ragi rotti is ready to serve.
